EP 315: Does RJ Harvey Look More Like Walling or Markkus? (featuring guest Scott Hyland)

Scott Hyland returned to the Bench and drew the short straw, having to team up with Josh, for this music-heavy Mason-hosted game. After the first two questions Josh proclaimed that the game was #toomuchminnesotaadjacent, but it did not take long for him to get super salty during the second quarter (and not solely due to a repeat quarter style). However, classical music saved the day and lifted Josh out of his salt funk. We discovered that Reggie Roby was a three-sport athlete as he was a catcher for the Colorado Rockies and a big man for the Washington Wizards. Walling invented a new genre of music known as Bafredwa (not sure which larger genre it fits within, but it's probably yacht rock, knowing Walling). EP 314: Drivers Who End in A$$ (featuring Assistant Coach Jerry Philbin)

Assistant Coach Jerry Philbin joins the squad to team with Tako, competing against Scott & Mason, in this David-hosted game. From the get-go, it is clear that Scott has forgotten that he has teamed with Mason more than 20 times in the past, as he treats him like a guest. Mason demonstrates his knowledge of first ladies of the U.S., going back to Grace Coolidge, cutting himself off there before he gets all the way back to Babe Van Buren. Later in the game, Tako compares the 1999 Orlando Magic to Colorado Rockies catchers - we clearly can't remember either one. EP 313: Karl-Anthony Towns, MD (featuring guest Colin Ireland)

Newcomer Colin Ireland joined the Bench to team up with Benchwarmer Emeritus Dan, reuniting half of an old trivia team (The Four Horsemen), in this #toomuchminnesota Josh-hosted game. Early on, Dan inquired if a stanza from a Sporting Haiku question was a Meatloaf reference, which triggered Scott to say, "Oh, hi mom!" Mason informed the crew that he had a dream recently that was similar to a Halftime Show movie plot. Mason also thought that a movie titled "Celtic Pride, Cowboy Ride" could be a hit (stay tuned, you may hear the trailer for it if we ever have a second Benchies episode). Scott hosted this fascinating matchup when Assistant Coach Trevor Hogg teamed with unable-to-pronounce-his-own-name Tako against Assistant Coach John Ross and Notorious Steals Guy, David. The teams were challenged with some great trivia, but managed to work in discussions of lost NBA brother, Lopez Lopez, all the reasons an answer could NOT be Nelson Cruz, and the all-important question: Is Carl Crawford an 80s police cop? We also witness the return of Jermichael Finley (and were thankful that Josh wasn't there to witness it). EP 310: This Is a Farce!

David hosted this underappreciated (or maybe properly appreciated) All-Benchwarmer game. We had trivia that was powered by Ancestry.com, where we learned that Kobe Bryant could be 3rd cousins with Steve Nash (but unlikely). The teams discussed who might voice Pablo Sandoval in a cartoon tribute to the mid-2010s San Francisco Giants. There was an early discussion of Mason appearing on Naked and Afraid - The Game Show.
